- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) contemplates award of a two year incrementally funded contract to provide the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention & Health Promotion (NCCDPHP), Division of Diabetes Translation (DDT), Epidemiology and Statistics Branch (ESB), services in meta-analysis. The purpose of the meta-analysis is to assess the value of abdominal obesity for the prediction of diabetes in a variety of populations. The contract will be titled AMeta-Analysis of Abdominal Obesity and Risk of Type 2 Diabetes in Adults.@ The contractor will gather data from long-term prospective (i.e. longitudinal) studies of diabetes in the United States and other countries. The contractor will identify published and unpublished studies where simple body measurements (e.g., weight, height, and waist circumference) were performed at baseline on people without diabetes and diabetes status was reassessed in the same people a few years later. The contractor will contact the principal investigator of each study and invite the investigator to participate in the meta-analysis. The contractor will collect pertinent data from the investigators who accept the invitation and perform the meta-analysis using all the appropriate variables. The contractor will provide labor and materials necessary to collect, process, store, protect, and analyze the data. The date specified for receipt of proposals will be approximately 30 days after the issue date of the Request for Proposal (RFP), which is anticipated to be on/about February 20, 2001. Upon issuance, the RFP will be available on the internet at www.eps.gov. Hardcopies may be obtained upon written request to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Procurement and Grants Office, Contracts Management Branch, Section I, Attn: Margie Usry, 2920 Brandywine Road, Room 3000, Atlanta, GA 30341-5539.
