Description

The U. S. Department of Energy (DOE), Albuquerque Operations Office (AL) intends to award on a sole source basis, a purchase order with two one-year option periods for consultant services for coordination of a program for laser glazing railroad rails to reduce friction between rail-wheel flanges and rail gage corners. The services are to be provided to the Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne, IL. The intended source is Materials Research and Development (MRD), 3443 Ullman Street, San Diego, CA. The principal investigator originated the concept of laser glazing railroad rails and is uniquely qualified for this effort. A request for quote will be sent to MRD with an anticipated award date of March 1, 2001. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which shall be considered by this agency. See Numbered Note 22.
