Description

The National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information = Service (NESDIS), National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), proposes to award sums not to = exceed $100,000 in FY 2001 to the International Council for Science (ICSU), World Data Center (WDC) Panel for Development of a Worldwide = Distributed Space Environment Data Management System. In 1997 the WDC for Solar Terrestrial Physics (STP) in Boulder, and its counterpart in Moscow, Russia developed the Space Physics Interactive Data Resource (SPIDR). The current project encourages the global mirroring and access of space environment sets through the automated SPIDR project. Development of new SPIDR capabilities will include: (1) a prototype long-term archive of NASA=92s MODIS products; (2) an operational version of the SPIDR = Fuzzy Search Engine; (3) definition and extension of the SPIDR local data server (NetWSGVars) interface to allow remote users to supply data to SPIDR main systems; (4) enhancement to include automated mirroring of loaded data sets; (5) support to the remote installs of SPIDR; and (6) definition of a virtual database view of SPIDR data resources. WDC = will also produce a bilingual (English & Russian) monograph, =93The Siberian and Russian Far East Pollen Database=94. Because the WDC is upgrading = its own product, this notice is for information purposes only. No solicitation is available. This acquisition is being conducted under FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
