Description
The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division intends to enter into negotiations for a Firm Fixed Price contract, on an Other Than Full and Open Competition basis, to Smith Industries, 3290 Patterson Avenue, S.E., Grand Rapids, MI, 49512, to procure three circuit boards (P/N 175333-02-01) and on-site engineering effort for functionality compatibility demonstration and flight testing of the boards for the Stores Management Upgrade (SMUG) program for the F/A-18 Integrated Product Team (IPT). The objective of the SMUG program is to successfully integrate a new Power PC (PPC) into the F/A-18 Stores Management Computer. In order to accomplish this, three additional A9 circuit boards are needed. Smith Industries, who are the primary manufacturer for the boards, developed and manufactures the A9 board utilized in the SMUG program. It is imperative that all boards utilized in testing efforts be functionally identical to ensure technical integrity and provide consistency of data obtained. Smith Industries utilizes a unique manufacturing process. As designer, developer and manufacturer of the boards, Smith Industries is the only source with the experience and expertise to provide technical participation in the demonstration testing. Their ability to isolate and determine root cause in an integration effort to either hardware or software is necessary for test success. The delivery of the three A9 circuit boards will be by mid-June 01 and additional engineering effort during the testing through October 01. Responses to this intent to solicit, other than from the source listed, will be required to submit information to verify their prior experience and knowledge of the SMUG Program. These responses shall be submitted in writing to Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, Code 210000D, Attn: Debbie Winfield, China Lake, CA 93555-6100. Questions may be addressed to Debbie Winfield, (760) 939-9661. All responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by the agency. Note 22 and 26 Applies
