Description
Technical/engineering services in support of various undersea vehicles, weapon systems, and submarine warfare development including unmanned undersea vehicles (UUVs), heavyweight and lightweight torpedoes. Anticipated efforts include: maintaining and upgrading the Weapons Analysis Facility (WAF) simulators and associated H/W or S/W models; designing, developing, testing, and maintaining multi-device H/W and S/W interfaces between the undersea vehicle/weapons system and the distributive network system simulator; developing and testing new computer models of physical phenomena for upgrading the fidelity and real-time capability of WAF simulators; conducting feasibility studies to determine alternatives/make recommendations for future proposed efforts; researching, designing, implementing, and refining S/W or H/W associated with covered DOD systems and related components; designing and building prototype H/W or S/W models of physical phenomena; developing algorithmic changes to the designs of the system software; applying advanced technology for the purpose of enhancing the systems analysis such as advanced display technology, artificial intelligence techniques and advanced training techniques. Est. level of effort over five years is 54,600, with "key" categories of Program/Project Manager II; Engineer III; Scientist III; and Computer Engineer III. The bulk of the hours are anticipated to be worked at the WAF located at NUWC, Middletown RI, i.e. on Government site. Period of Performance est. to begin SEP 2001. Procurement is a follow-on to N66604-96-D-A455 and N66604-97-D-0412, both awarded to Bolt, Baranek, and Newman (BBN) of Cambridge, MA. Evaluation scheme is Best Value, with technical criteria of Personnel and Past Performance. Facility Clearance/Safeguarding Capability required is Top Secret, though only people in Engineer III and Scientist III categories require this clearance (others require only Secret). Est. RFP release date is 09 MAR 2001. Solicitation is Unrestricted. NAICS Code is 541330- $20 million. Our department no longer issues solicitations or amendments in paper form.
