Description
The Department of Defense, Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technology Division is requesting information for Portable Marking Systems. This is a market research sources sought announcement; responses are due 30 days from the date of this ad. This is not an Invitation for Bid (IFB) or a Request for Proposal (RFP). This market research sources sought is seeking to identify suppliers of a Portable Marking System that can be adapted for attachment, with out permanent modification to the MK 26 MOD 0 Ordnance Locator (Foerster model FEREX 4.021). The purpose of the marking system is to give the operator the ability to mark the location of suspected targets detected by the locator without putting the locator down. The material method of marking can be paint, foam, or chalk. The marking system should not interfere with or degrade the performance of the locator. The marking system should not use any toxic chemicals and must be completely environmentally safe. It should be as lightweight as possible, field usable in challenging environments, and inexpensive. The marking material should remain visible for 5 to 7 days. The system can consist of a backpack or waist style container as long as it is man-portable. The system should be supportable and sustainable in the field for extended periods. The information from this market research effort will be utilized to understand commercially and nondevelopmental items' ability to meet the projected needs. This announcement is NOT a formal solicitation and is NOT a request for proposal. Availability of any formal solicitation will be announced separately. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes ONLY and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Firms responding should indicate whether they are a small business (S), a small disadvantage business (SDB), a small woman-owned business (WO), or large business (L). Each response must reference the sources sought title. Information submitted should describe the contractors capability and/or past experience in performing the described services and will be used to develop a source of potential proposers for possible future solicitations.
