- Description
- The U.S. Geological Survey has a requirement for a high speed connectivity(gigabit limited Ethernet) to the Abilene Network. To access this network of organizations, the USGS must have access to the Mid-Atlantic Crossroads (MAX) located at the University of Maryland. A membership in and maintenance of the MAX connection will permit the USGS to exchange earth science data between the USGS and the Internet-2-community of educational, research and government institutions. The University of Maryland is the only source of access to the Mid-Atlantic Crossroads. Due to this limited availability, this requirement will be met through a sole source contract with the University of Maryland. All sources who believe they can meet the access and connectivity requirements should submit a capability statement by March 28,2001. All responses will be evaluated to determine if other sources are available to meet this requirement. See numbered Note 22.*****
