The work will be performed in space to be designated by EPA, primarily at Waterside Mall and other Washington, D.C. area EPA facilities. Occasional travel will be involved. Some travel may be overseas, primarily to Europe. The sign language personnel will report to the EPA Headquarters Interpreting Coordinator, also identified as the Project Officer under this contract, who will orient interpreters, assign work, monitor contractor performance and approve invoices per occurrence. The contractor will provide an estimated 2,500 hours of sign language interpreting support services during the one year base period and each of the four one-year option periods for a total estimated 12,500 hours of interpreting support services. Interpreters are required to have a skill level equivalent to a senior journeyman expert. A senior journey expert should have Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification and have at least two years specialized experience in the technical arena. Interpreters shall conform with the standards outlined in the RID Code of Ethics. The contractor may be required to provide as many as four sign language interpreters simultaneously depending on the demands of the Agency. Requests for this service will be made by the EPA Headquarters Interpreting Coordinator. The Project Officer will notify the contractor of assignment via written technical direction.
