Description
THIS IS A 100% SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE. The contractor shall provide Graded Stone to be delivered by Tandem Trucks in accordance with the following specifications: Material: All stone should be tough, compact, hard, durable, highly resistant to disintegration in sea water and to weather, and shall be free from any clay pockets, honeycomb structure, cracks, seams, planes of weakness or other undesirable qualities which might contribute to crumbling or breakage during handling. Description: Stones shall be roughly angular in shape, having their least dimensions not less than one-third of the greater dimension. Rectangular block stone, slabs, and rounded boulders will not be accepted. The stone shall weigh not les than 155 pounds per cubic foot, dry, in air. Gradation: Stone (quarry stone) shall have the following gradation (please refer to solicitation). Not more than 5% shall pass a one-inch sieve. Measurement: Stone will be measured in short tons of 2,000 pounds. Contractor will be required to furnish the Government drayage tickets, showing the load in tons of 2,000 pounds. The truck(s) will be measured empty and again after loading. In determining the tonnage, the change in measured readings will be used. Delivery Terms: Stone will be accepted at the job site by the contractor's tandem axle haul truck(s) to Bayou des Glaises on LA Highway 1185 about way between LA Highway 107 and LA Highway 114, near CottonPort, Louisiana. Map to site will be faxed along with Solicitation. Tandem axle trucks are required due to the narrow and turning road conditions. A workday will be 10 hours each day, 7 days a week, exclusive of holidays and weather permitting. Inspection and Acceptance: Inspection and Acceptance of all will be at destination. Time of Delivery: The contractor will be required to commence delivery on or about 02 April 01. Variation in Quantity: A variation in the quantity of any item called by this contract will not be accepted unless variation has been caused by conditions of loading, shipping or packing. The permissible variation shall be limited to +/-10 percent. SOLICITATION ISSUE DATE WILL BE FEBRUARY 22, 2001.
