Description
The RD&A Office, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland is seeking to identify potential sources who can provide a full size Government model formatted .45 ACP caliber pistol. The Government desires the tactical pistol to also conform to the following specifications. 1)Integral frame rail machined into frame or permanently attached to frame. Rail must be capable of accepting Insight Technology's M3 Laser and Surefire Flashlight. 2) Pistol must have either Bo-Mar or Wilson adjustable rear sight using the same slide machine cut. A .125 wide by .125 deep rear naotch is preferred. 2 Dot green night sights are preferred for the rear sight. 3) The front sight will be a .115 wide serrated post with a green tritium dot. It will be of cross dovetail design and be anchored in the slide by either a roll pin or set screw. 4) Trijicon will be the supplier for the tritium inserts. 5)A stainless match barrel will be fitted and the pistol will be capable to producing a 2-inch group or less for 10 consecutive shots at 25 yards from machine rest with WCC Match 230 grain ball ammo. The barrell will be 5 inches in length and of a standard configuration with a barrel bushing. 6)The pistol will have front grasping grooves machined into the slide. 7) The pistol will come with a Videki style long match trigger fitter. Trigger must have an adjustable over-travel screw. 8) An EDM Commander style hammer will be used as well as an EDM tool steel sear. 9) A crisp, clean, creep free trigger pull is desired of between 3 3/4 and 4 1/4 pull weight.10) A beavertail grip safety is to be fitted that allows a high grip and has a bump built in for positive safety disengagement. 11) The frontstrap is to be checkered at 20 lines per inch.12) A Wide paddle ambidextrous safety is to be fitted. 13) Standard configuration slide release -- not extended.14) A standard M1911 style recoil spring guide and plug is preferred.15) A slightly extended so-called tactical magazine release is preferred. It must be configured that when fully depressed it will allow a magazine to drop free and not trap-said magazine in the magazine well. 16) A magazine well fitted to the pistol and blended to allow a smooth magazine exchange is desired.17) A flat 20 Lines per inch Mainspring Housing is to be fitted. However, the option to interchange the housing with an arched 20 LPI checkered housing using the same magaine is desired.18) All exterior sharp edges are to be radiused.19) A corrosion resistant Matte Black or Matte Black/OD Green finish is desired.20) Standard configuration M1911 style grips are desired.21) The pistol will be built for heavy duty use and must be capable of functioning in a wide variety of environmental conditions including but not limited to sandy dusty conditions, wet/humid conditions, as well as Arctic conditions. This notice is not to be considered a solitiation; no solicitation exists; however all responses received by the government by the response deadline will be reviewed to determine what firms have a compatable .45 caliber pistol that meet or exceeds the foregoing requirement.
