Description
The US Army ARDEC is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources capable of characterizing the chemical vapor deposition growth of single crystal tungsten in-situ. A sensitive and fast monitoring system of the growing crystal is sought. Traditional monitoring methods may not be adequate due to the harsh chemical and 1000 degrees Centigrade environment within the growth chamber, the large crystal diameter and length and its non-flat shape. In addition, the crystal may not be taken out of the growth chamber for periodic inspections and any interruption in the growth process should be minimized. Accordingly, it is anticipated that an optical monitoring system, which is sensitive to the cystallographic structure and orientation at a nano-size scale is the preferred approach and a prospective contractor is being sought for development. All interested firms shall submit their technical capabilities (1-10 pages) for the above to include the following at no cost to the Government: (1) The prospective contractor should show capabilities in mid-IR imaging (2-6 microns), mid-and-far-IR spectroscopy and imaging interferometry and provide a technical plan and approach based on prior relevant experience. (2) The prospective contractor should cite publications. (3) The prospective contractor should show capabilities in comparing the results from the developed system with those based on traditional crystallographic methods such as X-ray diffraction. The technical capabilities shall be submitted electronically fifteen (15) days from the date of this notice to Dr. Sheldon Cytron, email address: scytron@pica.army.mil. If interested, also please provide the company's name, address, point of contact with telephone number and email address, size of business (small/large) and country represented. This is a market survey for information only. It does not constitute a RFP and is not construed as a commitment by the Government. Technical questions must be addressed in writing to Dr. Sheldon Cytron. E-mail address for Dr. Sheldon Cytron is scytron@pica.army.mil. See Note 25.
