Description

On or about 2/16/01, this office will issue a Request for Proposal for construction of General Mail Facility (GMF) at MILWAUKEE WI 53203-9998. Proposals will be opened on 3/16/01 at 2:00 PM. THIS IS NOT A PUBLIC PROPOSAL OPENING. NO INFORMATION WILL BE GIVEN OUT UNTIL TIME OF AWARD -- FOUR WEEKS AFTER CLOSING. The value of the work is estimated to be between $5,500,000 and $6,500,000. Description of the work is: Project includes repair and rehabilitation of the General Mail Facility for The United States Postal Service in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The repairs are primarily structural repairs to the concrete maneuvering area slab and an access ramp as well as associated beams and columns. The maneuvering area is an elevated structural slab that carried mail trucks over employee parking at the ground level. The concrete restoration includes partial and full depth removals and a new concrete overlay. Repairs to the underside of the slab include partial-depth shotcrete repairs. Work includes associated plumbing, electrical, and concrete sealer and joint sealants. The work is phased over two years to allow the Postal Service continuos operation of the maneuvering area and truck docks. The contractor will be required to commence work within 10 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed and strictly adhere to the contract schedule. Liquidated damages will be accessed.
