- Description
- US Army AMCOM is contemplating the following: 1. Modernized TADS Electronic Control Amplifier (M-TECA) The legacy TECA contains analog signal processing and power amplification electronics required to close the Line of Site stabilization and control servo loops. Changes in aircraft vibration characteristics require electronic component changes within the TECA to accomplish the required stabilization. The primary objective of this acquisition is to provide an updated hardware design for the TECA, a modernized TECA (M-TECA.) The M-TECA will provide the functions of the legacy TECA and add growth capability to an on-gimbal IMU enhancing digital battlefield readiness. The M-TECA will provide gimbal stability through servo loop compensation and controls for the outer gimbal azimuth and elevation loop circuits and the inner gimbal yaw and pitch loop circuits. The M-TECA will support the movement to two-level maintenance by providing an improved architecture and an enhanced built-in-test (BIT) capability. Compensating for changes in aircraft vibration characteristics will be accomplished with simple software changes rather than circuit component redesign and replacement. This design will provide for increased reliability and lower O & S cost 2. Improved Helmet Display System The Improved Helmet Display System will have form, fit, and function interchangeability with current IHAADS installed on AH-64 A and D model aircraft, have better resolution and capable of digital and analog interface capabilities for both Apache A and D models and be compatible with the performance requirements for M-TADS/PNVS, and the current FLIRs and the improved FLIRs being developed for the Apache. This procurement is focused on operations and support (O&S) cost reduction. The Government proposes to acquire services to design, fabricate, and test the proposed acquisition. The Government does not own specifications and drawings to permit full and open competition. Justification for other than full and open competition is FAR 6.302-1. The US Army does not have drawings or specifications for this acquisition. The intended source for this acquisition is Team Apache Systems, 5600 Sand Lake Rd, Orlando FL. See Note 22. The intended release date for the request for proposal is on or around 15 March 2001.
