Description
Modification to Submission No. 50C7O6 posted in the CBDNet on February 5, 2001: The Forest Service requires a contract proposal to design a revegetation plan for a 20-acre landslide on the Bitterroot National Forest, Ravalli County, Montana. Engineering consultants have already developed a plan for removing water from the slide. In order to design a revegetation plan that incorporates the most current bioengineering techniques, the contractor needs to be able to work closely with project engineers and understand engineering methods used in landslide stabilization. The revegetation plan should emphasize the hydraulic properties of plant roots to relieve pressure on the slope and encourage sediment trapping. Integration of native plant materials from locally adapted seed sources is encouraged in the design plan in order to best achieve these goals and maintain plant diversity. Exotic or invasive plant species will not be acceptable. In order to complete the revegetation plan, the contractor will need to make field visits to the slide with project engineers, collect soil samples for analysis of pH and mineral content, map the different landslide zones for revegetation needs, select appropriate plant species and soil amendments, and review methods of landslide stabilization with project engineers. This project will be advertised as a written quotation, and will be solicited under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). Quotes are due April 5, 2001. The estimated start work date is April 16, 2001. The performance period is 6 months. All responsible sources may submit a quote which will be considered.
