Description

The authorized project for Jacksonville Harbor provides for the deepening of West Blount Island Channel along Cuts F & G to a depth of 38 feet and raising the dikes on the east end of Bartram Island (D/A-1 Alt.) to accommodate all of the dredged material. Cut F will also be realigned by a shift of 50 feet to the east. To facilitate the authorized project, the Phase I deepening contract will dredge Cuts F & G to a project depth of 39 feet plus 1 foot of allowable overdepth. Total quantity to be dredged is approximately 1,098,000 cubic yards. The Phase I contract will also include the construction of improvements to the East End Bartram Island Disposal Area by raising a portion of the dikes to an elevation of 45 feet, removing 3 existing weir structures and constructing 4 new weir structures. A total of approximately 435,000 cubic yards of material will be needed to accomplish the dike raising, all of which is available on-site. Approximately 80% of the newly constructed dike will require geogrid reinforcement. All dredged material will be placed in the constructed disposal area, which is located, an average of 6000 feet from the dredging location. Magnitude of Construction is over $10,000,000. Invitation for Bid will be issued on or about 19 March 2001 and open on or about 19 April 2001. Solicitation will be issued in electronic format only. Bidders will be provided CD-ROM at no cost.
