Description

Carlsbad Caverns National Park herein requests information to replace the telephone system interconnecting the subsurface and surface communication link. This is not a request for proposal, and there is no solicitation available at this time. There are approximately eight (8) phones located along the main paved route in Carlsbad Caverns. This system is hardwired with wiring placed off the trail throughout the Cave. These phones are for employee and/or visitor emergency use. The phone system in place is a OMNI SBCS, which was installed in 1986, but the wiring for the system has been in the Cave for many years and has continual problems. The park has a need to replace this system and wants to consider all types of systems that may work in the Cave. With recent technological advances, there may be a number of options and alternatives for a phone system that may be suitable for the park's needs. This request for information is to obtain the latest technology for telephone systems that may have cost-effective solutions. Interested firms are requested to submit literature or technical information, maintenance and warranty information, and price and price related information. The information collected from the industry will be used for acquisition planning, to develop the statement of work, and to structure the request for proposal/quotation (solicitation). If there is a GSA or other contract vehicle already available for the technology being proposed, please include this information with your response. Interested firms are invited to attend a site review to be conducted at 10:00 a.m.(MST), Thursday, March 15, 2001, Cavern Supply, at the Visitor Center, Carlsbad Caverns National Park. The Government will not pay for any costs associated in response to the request for information, i.e. travel, lodging and/or materials submitted. Any information received will become the property of the Government and will not be returned to the submitter. All information contained in the request for information is preliminary and may be subject to modification and is in no way binding by the Government.
