- Description
- A Novel Solution for the Ex Vivo Preservation of Cardiovascular Tissue -- - The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), through the National Technology Transfer Center (NTTC), is seeking research partners to further develop and license this technology through a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA). -- - The VA has developed a preservative solution that enhances the viability of tissues and organs. The solutions primary application is preserving vein and free arterial grafts for coronary bypass grafting (CABG) surgery. A secondary application is preserving whole organs for transplant, and a third is in preserving the arrested heart during CABG surgery. -- - There is scientific evidence that the solution is superior to the other tested solutions in preserving the viability. To fully prove the value of the solution for vein graft preservation, more research is needed. The VA is seeking candidate partners to further develop and license the technology.
