Description

SOLICITATION NOTICE. This is a project for the construction of a partial building renovation within bldg 460 to provide the Weld School with practical training facilities and classrooms. Also included is the partial renovation of bldg 78 to create an Apprentice Skills training area and demolition of Building 289. Both buildings are designated historic resources. Work in Bldg 460 includes installation of mechanical and industrial ventilation equipment for weld gas supply piping and fume exhaust, and upgrade to building power supply and electrical distribution. Work in building 78 includes seismic upgrade of entire bldg, removal of 4th floor and roof replacement. Interior renovations in both buildings include modernization of restrooms, replacement of partitions, heating/ventilation system, lighting, floor covering, plumbing fixtures, fire protection and alarm systems and installation of cabling to support information technology. Work also includes lead and asbestos abatement and disposal of PCB ballasts and mercury containing lamps. The North American Industry Classification Code is 233310. The related small business size standard is $27.5 million. The estimated price range for this project is $5,000,000 -- $10,000,000. This Request for Proposal (RFP) is a competitive negotiation. This procurement is open to all business concerns. This solicitation will be issued via the Internet World Wide Web at http://esol.navfac.navy.mil and will NOT be available in paper (hard copy) format. The Government will NOT make a CD available for this project. The solicitation, including plans and specifications is available for down load free of charge. All prospective offerors and plan centers are required to register as plan holders on the web site. Amendments and notices will be posted on the web site http://esol.navfac.navy.mil for downloading. This will be the only method of distributing amendments and notices. It is the offeror's responsibility to check the web site periodically for any amendments and notices to this solicitation. The official plan holders list will be maintained and can be printed from the web site. Plan holders lists will not be faxed and will only be available from the web site. The solicitation will be available on or about 20 Mar 2001. Location and points of contact for site visits are identified in the solicitation and at the ESOL website. All qualified responsible sources may submit an offer that shall be considered by the agency. See numbered Note 12.
