Description

The VA Medical Center, Salem, Virginia will issue o/a March 19, 2001, Solicitation No. RFP 658-37-01, Design/Build Mechanical, Plumbing & Electrical Systems in Existing ER, Building 2A. Proposals shall be due thirty (30) calendar days from issuance of the solicitation. Work shall include the survey of existing conditions and preparation of working construction drawings. The existing mechanical and electrical systems shall be replaced or retrofitted, to include Air handling units, Terminal units, Ductwork, Circulation pumps, Piping, Insulation, Siemens building automation controls, Testing & Balancing, Medical gas systems, Plumbing fixtures, Electrical panelboards, Conduit, and Electrical wiring. Some general construction work shall also be a part of this project to include Lighting Fixtures, Drywall/plaster partitions, Doors/frames/hardware, Interior windows, Acoustical Ceilings, Resilient & sheet vinyl flooring, Ceramic Tile and Plastic laminated millwork. As part of the complete renovation of the existing Emergency Room area in Building No. 2A, the area will be vacated, walls and ceilings demolished and asbestos floor mastic abated in preparation for this Design/Build contract. Contractor shall accomplish design and complete construction within eight (8) months from date of award. This procurement is restricted to those firms within a 200-mile radius of the VA Medical Center, Salem, Virginia. NAICS Code 235110 applies. The size standard is $11.5 million dollars in gross annual sales. A pre-proposal will be held o/a April 10, 2001. Confirmation of the pre-proposal conference date, time and location will be contained in the solicitation package. The solicitation package shall also contain existing drawings of Building 2A and the preliminary architectural layout for the new ER. A set of VA specifications and VA Design Criteria for HVAC, Plumbing & Electrical Systems will be provided at the preproposal conference. ATTENDANCE AT THE PREPROPOSAL CONFERENCE IS MANDATORY AND NO EXCEPTIONS SHALL BE MADE. Proposals received from non-attendees will be rejected. The estimated cost range for this project is $500,000 to $1,000,000.
