Description

Indian Head Naval Surface Warfare Center Division is seeking sources for Ex 170 Electric Primers for use in 5-inch gun propelling charges. Primers are approximately 2 inches maximum in diameter by 26.5 inches long. The primer contains a Mk 1 Ignition Element with a lead styphnate based ignition material initiated by a bridgewire. This fires into intermediate and booster charges of black powder which, in turn, ignite the main charge material. Gases from the main charge are expelled through a vented steel tube. Total explosive weight is approximately 94 Grams. Main charge material will be provided as GFM initially. Total explosive material mass is approximately 95 grams. Initial buy would be in the 700-800 unit range. Interested parties are to respond within 30 days from the date of publication in the CBD.
