Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Coastal Systems Station, Panama City, Florida, is seeking underwater breathing apparatuses (UBAs) for test and evaluation and possible use as a Tactical UBA for Naval Special Warfare. The UBAs will have the following operational characteristics: an underwater duration equal to or greater than 5 hours at oxygen consumption rates of 1.0 standard liter per minute (slpm) for 200 minutes to 1.5 slpm for 100 minutes, partial pressure of oxygen that ranges from .16 to 1.3 atmospheres absolute at steady state conditions, a depth capability equal to or greater than 120 feet (36.6 meters) of sea water, immersed operational temperature range of 105 F to less than 28 F (40.6 to -2.2 C), storage/transportation temperature range of 140 to -24 F (60 to -31.1 C), capable of tactical operation (i.e., no bubbles) while maintaining depth, an on/off switch if the UBA is electronically controlled, reinforced hoses, operation with full face mask or mouthpiece, full face mask must have a capability to be switched from closed/semi-closed to open circuit, if no full face mask, then UBA must be compatible with Mk24 FFM, communications capable, weight less than 65 pounds (29.5 kg), predive setup time of less than 1 hour, if equipped with display lights they will be switchable on/off or be coverable, capable of field calibration, have a 14 day standby capability, automatic oxygen add rate of at least 4 slpm, and manual bypass of oxygen addition valves capable of flowing at least 60 slpm.
