Description

The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) requires two femtosecond lasers. These lasers have critical requirements as follows: 1) Ultrashort-pulse mode-locked Ti sapphire laser with wavelength coverage at 800 nanometers; 2) Combination of shortest pulse width and simultaneously the highest repetition rate, a) pulse width less than 30 fs, b) pulse repetition frequency between 0.75 and 2 gigahertz; 3) Output power greater than 550mW assuming pumped by 5W of 532 nanometer single frequency pump power available; 4) Ability to modify laser to control pulse repetition rate and mode frequency; and 5) Single spatial mode. It is the intent of the Government to award this procurement on a sole source basis under authority of 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1) with GigaOptics GmbH of Germany. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE $100,000). This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement.
