Description

The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Ocean Services, Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary, Bryan, Texas, intends to contract for educational support services to the Sanctuary staff in the education and outreach programs. Contractor must have a science or education degree. If the contractor has a science degree, he/she must also have some experience in education or outreach. If the contractor has an education degree, he/she must have knowledge of basic marine science principals and preferably, knowledge of coral reefs. Contractor must have excellent oral and written communication skills and good logistical organization skills. The Sanctuary will provide office space with a computer and access to office supplies necessary to complete the projects. It is anticipated that the contractor will spend a large portion of the time working out of the Sanctuary office located in Bryan, Texas. Based on Sanctuary staff experience, the work outlined will require a minimum of 40 hours per week for seven months. Deliverables for this work include participant resource packets, workshop materials (slide presentations, hand-outs, etc.) for the Down Under, Out Yonder Education Workshops and the Land-based Teacher Workshops; elementary video and teacher guide; adaptable slide presentation geared to a general audience; two editions of the quarterly Hammerhead Chronicles newsletter and monthly progress report on each of the projects.
