Description
Provide Medical/Surgical Prime Vendor Distribution Services at the Birmingham, AL and Tuscaloosa, AL Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers. The successful distributor shall be expected to maintain an extensive medical and surgical product line inventory (FSC Group 6508/6510/6515/6525/6530/6532). Successful distributor shall have the capability and skill to distribute that inventory in low units of measure to and including all end use distribution points. There will be three methods of distribution: 1. Conventional 72 hours delivery after receipt of order (ARO) FOB destination, VAMC receiving dock. 2. Just-in-Time to the Receiving Dock Next working day delivery (ARO) Daily deliveries, 5 days per week -- -Low unit of measure, picked by end use clinical area -- -FOB destination, VAMC receiving dock. 3. Just-In-Time to Clinical Areas -- -Next working day delivery Low unit of measure, picked by end use clinical areas -- -FOB destination, VAMC clinical areas -- -Contractor delivers, stocks and replenishes clinical inventory. The successful distributor will also have the capability and skill to provide complete inventory management, value-added analysis and process improvement. The annual volume of sales is estimated at 3 million dollars. The VA intends on awarding a multi-year (5 year) contract. The solicitation will be issued in accordance with FAR Part 12. Proposals will be evaluated in descending order of importance: (a) Price, (b) Technical Excellence, (c) Socioeconomic Factors, (d) Past Performance and (e) Financial Condition. The solicitation will be available on or about March 22, 2001. All offers will be required to perform a mandatory logistics review of both facilities.
