- Delete the description reflected on solicitation 2001Q00043, March 6, 2001, and replace with the following: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Infectious Diseases, Viral Exanthems and Herpesvirus Branch intends to procure the services of a vendor to clone, sequence, and analyze 16S rDNA and Mycoplasma spp amplicons produced subsequent to amplification of purified plasma DNA from CFS cases and controls. Minimum vendor qualifications: Ability to expand on current line of investigation and experimentation using plasma DNA samples from well-defined populations of CFS cases and controls. Knowledge and experience in handling and processing limited clinical material derived from patient and control plasma. Knowledge and experience in successfully identifying and characterizing previously unknown and/or novel bacterial pathogens using broad range PCR of 16S rDNA. Knowledge and experience in optimal conditions for amplification of bacterial and rickettsial pathogens from limited quantities of purified DNA from human plasma. Knowledge and experience in cloning and sequence analysis of the 16S rDNA products. Knowledge and experience for optimizing amplification conditions for genus-specific Mycoplasma primers. Knowledge and experience in cloning and sequence analysis of amplified mycoplasmal DNA.
