Description

NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Offer (RFO) for the Construction of the SAFE-100 Heat Pipe Module and Related Hardware This procurement is for development and fabrication focused on the construction of the SAFE-100 heat pipes modules. This activity shall include: Design of the SAFE-100 heat pipe module; Development of appropriate tube bonding, materials processing, and wick assembly techniques; and Fabrication and delivery to Marshall Space Flight Center of a total of 20 heat pipe modules. NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Advanced Methods and Materials, 510 Lawrence Exp. Suite 203, Sunnyvale, CA 94086. This sole souce is recommended pursuant to FAR 6.302-1. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on March 23, 2001. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B". All qualified responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
