- SYNOPSIS: Sealed bids from all business concerns will be accepted for District of Columbia Department of Public Works Project DC STP-9999(982) in Washington, D.C. The project consists of roadway resurfacing; sidewalk work; utility and lighting reconstruction; and drainage work on the following D.C. streets: 1. Rhode Island Ave., NW from 9th Street to Logan Circle; 2. 10th Street, NW from Massachusetts Avenue to M Street; 3. P Street, NW from 4th Street to 7th Street; 4. New Jersey Ave., NW from M Street to Rhode Island Avenue; 5. R Street, NW from Florida Avenue (E) to New Jersey Ave.; 6. Rhode Island Ave., NW from North Capitol Street to Florida Avenue; 7. MacArthur Blvd., NW from Foxhall Road to Laverock Place; 8. 37th Street, NW from Reservoir Road to U Street; 9. R Street, NW from 28th Street to 29th Street and from 32nd Street to Wisconsin Avenue; 10. and Massachusetts Ave, NW from Decatur Place to Waterside Drive. The project is expected to be in excess of $10,000,000. Bid documents are scheduled to be issued on or about March 26, 2001. Bids will be due on or about April 26, 2001. Final issue and due dates and the list of planholders will be posted on our website under "Procurement Information". Internet address: www.efl.fha.dot.gov. All requests for bid documents will be mailed first class. It is strongly recommended that requests for bid documents be received 7 calendar days before bid opening to ensure receipt of requested materials. Requests for 'faxing' or overnight mailing will not be accepted. The following applies to Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization has bonding programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises in acquiring short-term capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates up to $500,000 to provide accounts receivable financing. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1,000,000 per contract. DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses.
