- Description
- The Walla Walla District Corps of Engineers intends to award a sole source contract in accordance with 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, to VEMCO Limited. Subject contract will be for encoded aquatic ultrasonic transmitter tags and a buoyed array receiver system for research supported under the Northwestern Division's AFEP. Studies are to determine the behavior and mortality of juvenile salmon with known passage histories during their early exposure to the ocean environment. Ultrasonic transmitter/receiver systems are able to provide the detection and tracking of tagged fish in salt-water environments. Testing conducted in 2000 compared the smallest known tags and receiver systems, with the highest priority for performance criteria being tag size and detection range. The VEMCO tags were the smaller thereby reducing the potential of post-tagging mortality, and the VEMCO receiver system could detect their tags at a greater distance under the noisy environmental conditions. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received in response to this notice will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The size standard for small business concerns under NAICS code is 750 employees.
