Description

The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport has a procurement for the ocean bottom recovery of for acoustic countermeasure devices. Needed are the engineering services of a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) and trained operators. Four devices are to be launched from a submarine. At the end of the operation, the devices shall scuttle to the ocean bottom. These four devices shall be recovered utilizing the ROV. Their recovery shall be recorded via a video camera mounted on the ROV. The devices are 6.25 inches in diameter and approximately 106 inches in length. Their water weight is between 1 to 3 lbs., in air the weight is approximately 200 lbs. The ocean depth in the operation area is approximately 1500 feet. The devices shall have FAA beacons for locating them during recovery. The ROV shall have an acoustic receiver capable of receiving a 37.5 kHz signal emitted from the FAA beacon (Dukane Underwater Acoustic Beacon DK100/DK120). The ROV shall be equipped with an underwater camera to record the recovery of the devices on video tape. In addition, the contractor shall provide personnel (welders and riggers) to facilitate the installation/de-installation of the ROV from a research vessel. Crane support for installation/de-installation of the ROV will be GFE. ROV mobilization will take place at Port Canaveral, FL during April 17 & 18, 2001. ROV demobilization shall take place April 23 at Port Canaveral. FL. Our department no longer issues solicitations or amendments in paper form.
