Description

Two sediment basins require construction south of the Rock Island Armory building in Milan, Illinois. Because of the steep topography and poor soils, the earthfill material for the basins will be hauled in from off-site. The estimated quantity of earthfill is approximately 3,300 cu. yds. The sediment basin directly south of the building will have a maximum height of approximately 11 feet. The basin will also have a rock-lined emergency spillway. This rock-lined emergency spillway will require the freight and placement of approximately 270 tons of RR-5 rock riprap. The second sediment basin will have a maximum height of approximately 5 feet. The basin will be drained similarly through PVC pipe and corrugated plastic drainage tile. The drainage conduit diameters and material vary as required for capacity and placement. Price range is $25,000 -- $100,000. Performance time is 31 calendar days.
