- Description
- Naval Air Warfare Center (Aircraft Division) Patuxent River, MD, Code 4.6.2.2, is seeking information from potential sources regarding industry technologies applicable to improving aircrew restraint systems harness hardware, used in helicopter and other applicable fixed-winged aircraft. Current systems utilize basic design concepts that have changed little over the years. Hardware is overly large, bulky, uncomfortable and extremely expensive. The U.S. Navy wishes to acquire new or emergent hardware technology and design that focuses on the following major areas: (1) Reduced sizing over current hardware. (2) One-handed operation with quick releasing mechanism. (3) Breaking load of 3,000 lbs. (4) Corrosion resistant. (5) Adjustable slide bar accommodating 13/4 inch wide harness webbing. (6) Subdued, non-reflective color. The Crashworthy Systems Team is seeking innovative solutions to address these requirements. Commercial solutions and technical solutions currently in production, are highly desired. Companies responding to this request should provide detailed information on their capabilities and experience to Matt Marshman, Code 2.5.1.3.2.6, Bldg. 441, NAVAIRSYSCOMHQ, 21983 Bundy Road Unit 7, Patuxent River, MD 20670-1127 at (301) 757-8942 or by e-mail marshmanmm@navair.navy.mil. Respondents must clarify if their firm can provide commercial or non-developmental items that could be modified to meet the Crashworthy Systems Team's needs. Samples and 3-D models are also encouraged. Proprietary information MUST be marked as such, on a page-by-page basis. This Request For Information (RFI) does not, in anyway constitute a Request For Proposal (RFP) and as such, is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this notice, nor otherwise pay for information / items solicited. Data, Samples, and 3-D models will not be returned. To be of maximum benefit to the program, responses must be received by March 30, 2001.
