Description
The description, as stated in the original synopsis and/or solicitation, is for the purchase of 256 each NSN 9535-01-LG8-0142, STRIP, WEAR, 3" wide X 20" long X 5/8" thick, brass/bronze with graphite inserted plugs. Material considered self-lubricating. Plugs to be inserted into one side of 3" X 20" section. Material to be in accordance with DIN 1714/SAE NO. CA958 or a naval brass, resistant to sea water and a marine environment. Wear strip to have a minimum load carrying capacity of 300 PSI. The minimum load carrying capacity is hereby corrected to read 3000 PSI, in lieu of 300 PSI. The following information is hereby issued in response to questions from potential offerors: Except for the 3 drilled and countersunk holes, the attached pictures show the type of wear plates required for this purchase. The U. S. Coast Guard YARD shop does the drilling at the time of assembly. These wear strips are built into a heavy-duty chain stopper and act as slide bearings/wear plates that support the load of an ocean buoy anchor system suspended off the side of a Coast Guard cutter. No drawings are available for this item. These are representative photographs that reflect the basic configuration of the wear strips currently being used by the U. S. Coast Guard YARD. It is not necessary to use the exact pattern or configuration shown, but the wear strips must meet the load carrying capacity set forth above. The Request for Proposal (RFP) was posted on March 6, 2001 on the website for Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) at www.eps.gov. Hard copies of the Request for Proposal or the amendment will not be issued. It is incumbent upon contractors to monitor the EPS website at www.eps.gov for RFP release and all subsequent amendments. The date and time for receipt of proposals is specified in the Request for Proposal. This amendment to the solicitation is considered to be a material amendment. Receipt of this amendment must be acknowledged by no later than the time specified in the solicitation for receipt of proposals. Failure to acknowledge receipt of this amendment may result in a proposal being rejected as nonresponsive. In the event that the Contracting Officer elects to conduct an on-line reverse auction, all parties that have submitted an offer on or before the date specified in the solicitation for the receipt of proposals will be notified concerning the reverse auction. *****
