Description
Simplification of Phase Shifting Interferometry. This invention provides a simple, inexpensive means to shutter each independent beam of the interferometer in order to facilitate the data acquisition requirements for phase shifting interferometry. These additional data can be used to relax the requirements for known, fixed phase shifts. By eliminating the requirement to know the phase shift exactly, a simple, economical means and apparatus for performing phase shifting interferometry is provided which, by thermally expanding a fiber optic cable, changes the optical path distance of one incident beam relative to another. This proprietary technology represents a potential licensing opportunity with Bechtel BWXT Idaho, LLC (BBWI), the prime contractor for the Department of Energy at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL). BBWI is seeking written indications of interest from companies potentially interested in licensing the technology. This is not an opportunity to provide goods or services to BBWI or the Department of Energy. This Request for Interest (RFI) will close to response 30 days after publication. Interested parties should send e-mail to wachgt@inel.gov (Tom Wachter, Senior Account Executive, Technology Transfer & Commercialization, BBWI). If you do not have e-mail access, send regular mail to Tom Wachter, Senior Account Executive, Technology Transfer & Commercialization, BBWI, P.O. Box 1625, Idaho, Falls, ID 83415-3805.
