Description
Background " The Arnold Engineering Development Center's (AEDC) Aero- Propulsion Test Facility (ASTF) is a turbine engine test facility built in the late 1970's. The existing axial compressor drives consist of twelve 27,500 horsepower synchronous motors, four 44,000 horsepower synchronous motors, and two 52,500 horsepower synchronous motors. The starting system for these motors is one of two variable frequency starting systems (VFSS) which are located at each end of the facility and linked together for redundancy. This project will replace the two Variable Frequency Starting Systems with new Variable Frequency Drive Systems at the Engine Test Facility (ETF) C-Plant at Arnold Engineering Development Center. This turn key job consists of replacing selected components of the systems with new components. Those items to be replaced with new components include, but are not limited to, the inverter, rectifier, dc link and controls cubicle. This work also includes demolition of selected components of the existing systems and installation and integration of the new equipment. Because of funding and mission requirements, the project must be accomplished in at least 3 or 4 phases. Note: Solicitation release is expected on or about 30 March 2001. "
