Description

This solicitation is for conducting basic research in ploymeric composite materials (PMC), over a 12 month period. Two options, each fro an additional 12 months (for a total of 36 months if both options are exercised), are included in the solicitation. The scope of work for the basic solicitation includes: analyzing composite joints which includes performing various surface strain and stress analysis, and constructing a finite element model to predict 3D stress distribution, 2) use Digital Speckle Interferometry (DSPI) to measure crack length and 3) conduct high velocity impact studies of thick section composites. The 2 options involve additional research on composite joints and additinal research regarding high velocity impact studies. This procurement is planned as a sole source to Michigan State University, pursuant to FAR 6.302-1. See Note # 22.
