- Description
- The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) intends to solicit, negotiate and award a purchase order on a non-competitive basis to Buckshire Corporation, Perkasie, Pa. for the purchase of twenty-Five (25) African Green Monkeys (Cercopithecus pygerythrus) from Tanzania, either sex, weight 2-5kg. This species of African Green Monkeys, Cercopithecus pygerythrus, are a very specialized vervet subspecies and are required for on-going research on the mechanisms of host-specific pathogenesis of SIVagm. Mandatory quarantine is required and the vender must be licensed for Import and Quarantine by the Center of Disease Control Import as well as be licensed by the USDA for Animal Holding. Compliance with all rules and regulations pertaining to care and use of animals. Burkshire Corporation is the only known vendor currently licensed and able to perform this requirement. Delivery destination will be FOB Bethesda, Maryland. The purchase order will be made using Simplified Acquisitions Procedures (FAR Part 13). The statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition that is applicable to this acquisition is FAR Subpart 6.302-1(a)(2), 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) which states " When the supplies or services required by the agency are available from only one responsible source, and no other type of supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements, full and open competition need not to be provided for." This notice of intent is not a request for competitive price quotations. Interested firms or persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. All such responses/price quotations must be received by the government within forty-five days after date of publication of this synopsis which will be considered by the Government.
