Description
The National Park Service, Harpers Ferry Center, is soliciting proposals for the preparation of a preliminary schematic design that will guide the development of a state-of-the-art interpretive media center for the Brown v. Board of Education Monroe School in Topeka, Kansas. This National Historic Site, established on October 26, 1992, commemorates the landmark Supreme Court decision that concluded "separate educational facilities are inherently unequal" effectively ending legal racial segregation in the public schools of this country. This project will include the planning, design, audiovisual and production (including fabrication and installation) of the entire media center that includes approximately 7200 square feet broken down as follows: an entry, an auditorium, 2 galleries, a reflection room and a media center. The target range is between $250 and $300 per square foot for all of the work. The completed museum and center may include the following interpretive media: interactive websites, audiovisual components (film, video and/or computer interactive exhibits), and museum quality exhibits. The solicitation contains two parts. In Part I, the National Park Service will award up to three contracts for a firm-fixed price of $5,000 each for the preliminary schematic design and production proposal. Only those contractors, who receive an award under Part I, will proceed and compete under Part II for the further development, production and installation of the interpretive media center. Submission of a proposal under Part I will require the development and identification of a complete media team to carry out the work that is described under Part II of the solicitation. A subject matter expert for African American studies is required as part of this team. This solicitation was previously synopsized (PSA#2729 on November 17,2000) but was cancelled due to lack of competition. Offerors who responded to this solicitation are invited to re-submit a proposal based on this new solicitation. The solicitation will be available on the internet on or about April 2, 2001 at http://165.83.219.72/hafe/hfc/solicitations.cfm. You must e-mail or fax your firm's name, address, telephone number, fax number, e-mail address, and contact person to Katrina Robertson, Procurement Technician, National Park Service, Harpers Ferry Center, Office of Acquisition Management, P.O. Box 50, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia 25425, e-mail: katrina_robertson@nps.gov or fax (304) 535-6424 so that your name can be added to the bidder's list to receive any amendments that may be issued.
