Description

This project consists of survey, design, furnishing, and installing materials and equipment, and labor required to survey 11 fish passage hydrosites, remove 9 existing metal culverts and install 9 new fish passage structures (bottomless arches, round and pipe arch culverts) and retrofit 2 existing culverts. Survey work includes surveying, setting benchmarks, clearing, collecting topographic data, data reduction, contour map development. Design work includes field reconnaissance, discharge measurements, data reduction and calculations, design, site layout, producing Autocad drawings, and obtain Title 16 concurrences from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Construction work includes excavation, clearing and grubbing, backfilling, regrading streams, ripraping, weir installation, compaction, construction of outlet pool and outlet control structures, and creating natural stream structures within the culvert and streambed. The project locations ae on Forest Development Roads (FDR) 6402, 6407, 6415, and 6420 on the Tongass National Forest, Southeast Alaska on Kuiu Island. The construction sites range from 10.9 to 28.3 road kilometers from the Rowan Bay sort yard on Kuiu Island, Alaska. Rowan Bay is located approximately 81 air kilometers west of Petersburg, Alaska and is accessible only by boat or floatplane. The price range for this project is $250,000 to $500,000.
