Description

USDA, APHIS, Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) at John F. Kennedy International Airport, Jamaica, New York, requires a contract for the acquisition and installation of two (2) Model VIS-M Perkin-Elmer advanced x-ray detection systems for use in Terminal 4, International Air Terminal at JFK (JFKIAT). Terminal 4 was replaced by a new facility scheduled to open May 8, 2001. The Model VIS-M advanced x-ray detection system shall be integrated with two (2) automated baggage control systems purchased by the JFKIAT from Rapistan Systems of Irving, Texas. The Model VIS-M advanced x-ray detection system is the only system that can be integrated with the Rapistan baggage control systems. Therefore, APHIS intends to negotiate with Perkin-Elmer Detection Systems on a sole source basis for the acquisition of the VIS-M advanced detection systems complete with four (4) operator work stations, installation, technical support, training, and training material for each end user.
