Description
It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), to negotiate on a sole source basis with the American Society for Artificial Internal Organs for a continuation of services for the preliminary survey and description of manuscript and artifactual sources for the history of the development of artificial internal organs. The American Society for Artificial Internal Organs was previously issued an award for research, data gathering, and data structuring is support of this survey and description. This continuation of service will provide the National Library of Medicine with additional data, allowing for a more complete guide, and in particular providing for access to information that is not available in current standard resource descriptions. The American Society for Artificial Internal Organs will continue to provide the following services: (1) survey existing guides to collections; (2) identify likely people and institutions that may hold appropriate manuscripts and artifacts; (3) contact these by phone, letter, or e-mail; (4) survey collections, and (5) prepare preliminary descriptions of collections of manuscripts and artifacts. The staff of the American Society of Artificial Internal Organs are highly trained to provide this service, being subject matter specialist in the history of artificial internal organs. The American Society of Internal Organs can provide these services beginning immediately and can meet the accuracy standards of the NLM. The proposed acquisition will be procured under FAR Part 13 -- Simplified Acquisitions. This notice of intent is not a Request for Quotations (RFQ), nor is an RFQ available, however, all responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by the NLM. Firms interested in responding to this notice must be able to provide professional service as stated above. Responses should sufficiently demonstrate the firm's ability to meet the government's requirements. Responses are required within fifteen (15) calendar days from the publication date of this notice.
