Description

NAICS 233320 -- Clean Room Construction. The contractor shall be responsible for furnishing all labor, supervision, materials, and equipment to modify the existing mechanical controls (supply air, cooling, filtration, exhaust, fire protection controls, instrumentation, and alarms), electrical, and plumbing in Rooms C102 and C106 of Building 350; and construct two Class 100 Clean Rooms within these two rooms with laminar flow hoods in accordance with specifications and drawings. The work will be performed at the Department of Energy's New Brunswick Laboratory (Building 350) located at 9800 South Cass Avenue, Argonne, Illinois, 60439. This work site is in a secure area and escort will be required at all times. Bidders will be required to submit separate bids showing one separate price for alternate bids to include: ALTERNATE A -- Modify Rooms C102 and C106 and construct two Class 100 Clean Rooms. The other alternate bid descriptions have not yet been determined, but will be available upon release of the Invitation for Bids (IFB). A firm fixed-price contract will result from this solicitation. The estimated price of this project is between $100,000 and $250,000. The period of performance will be 150 calendar days from the Notice to Proceed. The IFB will be issued o/a April 23, 2001. A pre-bid conference is tentatively scheduled for May 8, 2001. The tentative date for bid opening is o/a May 31, 2001. The IFB will include the narrative Statement of Work, specifications, and drawings and will be available at the following website: http://www.ch.doe.gov/business/acq/solicit.htm by clicking on "Open Solicitations" and then "Clean Room Construction Project, Solicitation Number DE-FB02-01CH11081". Specific information on the pre-bid conference is available at the above-cited website. Any changes to the pre-bid conference will be posted to the above-cited website. A draft narrative Statement of Work, for informational purposes only, will also be available on the above-cited website. All solicitation documents will be available electronically in PDF format upon issuance of the IFB to the above-cited website. Only hard copies of the drawings will be provided to interested firms who request them by checking the applicable box (i.e., "No. of Set(s) You Require of Solicitation Documents") in Item 14 of the Standard Form 1417, "Pre-Solicitation Notice," found at the above-cited website and returning the form to DOE. All IFB documents will also be available for inspection in Building 201, Room 3H-07, at the Department of Energy office located at 9800 South Cass Avenue, Argonne, Illinois, 60439.
