Description
The selected contractor shall provide,personnel, equipment and materials necessary to fabricate or purchase, and deliver commercial mooring chain. The Navy requires stud-link mooring chain(1 shot equals 90 feet of mooring chain), flash-butt welded: Shot, Mooring Chain 3.5-inch nom X90ft, quantity 64, Shot Mooring Chain 2.5-inch nom x90ft, quantity 64. Each shot to be certified to American Bureau of Shipping Grade 3(ABS #), latest edition. The chain manufacturing facility shall be approved by the American Bureau of Shipping for the size chain required. Certification must be submitted with the Contractor's proposal. Each shot of chain to have a base protective coating consisting at a minimum of 3 mil dry film thickness of TT-V-51, black Asphalt, or an approved equal. Each heat of bars used in manufacturing of the chain in this specification must meet the hydrogen embrittlement requirements for RQ3 offshore mooring chain per ABS Guide For Certification of Offshore Mooring Chain, 1999 or latest edition. Each shot of chain shall have a unique serial number on the stud on the 3rd link from each end. The marking is to be permanent and legible throughout the expected lifetime of the chain. The last link of each shot shall have a top coat of white epoxy paint. 32 shots of 3.5-inch, and 32 shots of 2.5-inch shots of chain have a delivery date of no later than 31 Aug 01. The remaining shots have a delivery date of no later than 31 Dec 01. The manufacturer shall submit a Quality Control Inspection Report and Certificate of Conformance listing results of all dimensional checks, test and inspection reports, non-destructive test reports, process records, photographs, mill test reports, proof and break test reports, tensile and impact test reports, and ABS report of Test for Chain and Accessories prior to delivery and acceptance of the chain by the Navy.
