- DARPA intends to award a sole-source contract to Research Triangle Institute (RTI) of Research Triangle Park, NC, to continue development of a new technique to reduce the pressure drop across fibrous filters used to remove biological warfare agents (BWAs). The new technique employs a proprietary strategy developed by RTI using a novel fiber and filter making process. This funding will be used to demonstrate proof-of-concept and to investigate alternative approaches to implement the technique and scale it up into a process that can be applied to the manufacture of these filters. Anticipated period of performance is 18 months. Estimated cost is $500,000. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Contractors capable of offering their service must respond within 15 days of the date of this notice by submitting specific technical capability to provide this service. All responses received within 15 days after publication of this synopsis will be considered by the government solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
