Description

The Defense Information Technology Contracting Organization (DITCO) has a transition period requirement for one year and two six-month option periods for the overall maintenance, operation and sustainment of the Integrated Digital Network Exchange (IDNX) System, an integral part of the Defense Information System Network (DISN), at more than 200 locations worldwide. This system essentially provides point to point longhaul data transmission service for both classified and unclassified circuits supporting a wide variety of Department of Defense and other Federal Agencies. The requirement to furnish hardware, firmware, software, maintenance, training, technical support, data, design, engineering, implementation, and follow-on operations support services is currently being provided by N.E.T. Federal, Inc., 8300 Boone Boulevard, Vienna VA 22182-2626, under contract DCA200-91-D-0027. It is our intention to extend the existing contract for this transition period, until a new competitively awarded contract, referred to as DISN Support Global, is implemented. The statutory authority for other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). This sole source extends the contract to provide sufficient time for the transition of services to DISN Support Global. See numbered Note 22.
