Description
The Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, NJ, is seeking potential sources, industry comments, product information, for decals for marking of intermodal shipping containers. Intermodal shipping containers are required to marked with an eleven-digit serial number in six locations on each intermodal container. Our serial number will consist of decals that are four-inch high black letters on a white background. In our application four of the locations will be a vertical orientation and two of the locations will be a horizontal orientation. The first four characters of every eleven-digit serial number will be the same. Our goal to have the eleven digit serial number consist of one decal of the first four characters and individual decals for the remaining seven digits. We anticipate procuring decals for approximately 6,000 intermodal shipping containers. This would require 24,000 of the four character decals in a vertical orientation and 12,000 of the four character decals in a horizontal orientation. The remaining seven digits of the serial number would require 252,000 of the individual decals consisting of various quantities of different numbers. The decals will be applied a painted aluminum surface. The decals shall be suitable for extended exposure to the sun, rain and marine environment that commercial intermodal shipping containers are typically exposed too. We desire a source of supply that currently produces the individual digits as a commercial item for use on intermodal shipping containers. Request potential sources of supply provide the following technical information about their products: specification sheet, service life in this application, material, thickness, environmental exposure ratings (temperature extremes, marine environment exposure, sun exposure etc.), any specifications the decals may conform too. Information about other customers using the product in similar applications is desired. General terms and conditions such as standard packaging quantity, and estimated delivery after receipt of order are desired, as well. The information provided should demonstrate that the decals being offered are suitable for the marking of intermodal shipping containers. This synopsis is not a Request for a Proposal and does not commit the Government to make an award for contract. Any information submitted may or may not be included in future procurement. Respondents are notified that a formal solicitation MAY NOT necessarily result from the RFI. The Government WILL NOT PAY for any information received in response to this RFI nor will the Government compensate any respondent. Mail information to Mary Novak, Contract Specialist, Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Hyw 547, Code 25221MN/B129-2, Lakehurst, NJ 08733-5082, or by email novakmp@navair.navy.mil, or by facsimile (732) 323-4069.
