Questions asked with corresponding answers follow: FACILITY MAINTENANCE FOR DDL Solicitation Number: 553-55899-912 1. Would there be a pre-start safety induction from NASA? Yes, our safety officer will provide training on the Detector Systems Branch protocols. 2. What chemicals are pumped through/exhausted through scrubber? (MSDJ 4 & 2) Major chemicals are: HF, HCL, BF3, PH3, H2SO4, CL2, NH3, BCL3, SiH4, SiH2CL2, ISO, Acetone, and others in small quantities. 3. What is the PM requirement (cleaning) for the scrubber? Frequency? Material handling requirements? PM requirements will be what the manufacturer recommends, and the replacement of the packing and internal cleaning will be determined by contractor with the Government approval. 4. Can contractor get material handling sheets for chemicals used, such as if HF is used? Specifically in the media scrubber. We have MSDS's for all chemicals in the DDL. Also these are available from gas manufacturers and chemical suppliers. Normally we test the sump water in the scrubber for PH before servicing it internally. On the normal PM this is not necessary. 5. Will the storage of scientific equipment be an issue that the contractor will be held accountable for? No. 6. Is there an existing inventory of spare parts? Will the contractor purchase parts or will the spare parts be available for use? The Government has some of the major spare parts (i.e. electric motors). In the event that any equipment needs parts not in inventory, the contractor will provide an estimate for the purchase and installation of such parts for the Government approval. 7. What is the PM requirement for the duckwork, FRP and Galvanized? Does it include cleaning? PM requirement for duckwork will be a visual inspection of all the hazardous duct, on a semi-annual basis. The reason is to identify leaks or failing joints, and integrity of the system.
