Description

Furnish all labor, material and equipment necessary to perform lead paint removal, prepare and paint all previously painted exterior and interior surfaces at U.S. Coast Guard Coney Island Light Tower, Brooklyn, NY. The tower is approximately 71 feet high and is located in the southwest corner of Kings County (Brooklyn) New York and is located in the private community of Seagate Village. The work also includes the removal of a two leaf steel entry door to an off-site location for surface blasting and reconstruction, the replacement of the concrete ground slab, repair of the concrete support pedestal and miscellaneous associated work. Bid Bonds and Performance and Payment Bonds are required. Group site visits are tentatively scheduled for 10 and 17 May 2001. No individual visits will be permitted. Further information concerning the site visits is contained in the solicitation. This Invitation for Bids is being issued pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program and is open to both large and small business participation. This project is estimated between $100,000 and $250,000. The applicable NAICS Code is 235210. The tentative date for receipt of bids is 22 May 2001. Bid packages will be available on or about 20 April 2001 at a non-refundable charge of $31. Certified Checks or money orders should be made payable to Commercial Blue Print and Supply and mailed to the firm at: 83 Waverly Street, Jersey City, NJ 07306. Do not send fees to the Coast Guard. Any amendments issued under this solicitation shall also be posted on this website. Also, you may refer to a list of other printers on the U.S. Coast Guard CEU/PROVIDENCE website at http://www.uscg.mil/mlclant/ceuprovidence. Printers on this list may be able to download and print the solicitation and drawings and specifications for a fee. For minority, women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises: the Department of Transportation (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT bonding assistance program enables firms to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
