- Description
- Sources are sought and information requested on all underwater telephone systems that perform or could be modified to perform the requirements listed below. The underwater telephone used in many Naval applications is the AN/WQC-2A sonar communication set. Information gathered will help determine possible Commercial of The Shelf (COTS) candidates for applications which are compatible with and can replace the AN/WQC-2A on Navy vessels. Potential offers are requested to submit product information and suggestions as to how their standard devices meet or could be modified or adapted to meet as many of the following requirements as feasible. Requirements: High Frequency (HF) operation: 8.3 to 11.1 kHz upper sideband; Minimum Continuous wave (CW) HF transmit power: at least 600VA (adjustable to lower levels), into a 40 ohm (TR-233) transducer; HF receiver sensitivity : -170dBV, ( 1 Hz bandwidth) ; HF transducer interface: Compatible with the Navy standard TR-233 transducer. Capable of having three selectable HF transducer inputs; Low frequency (LF) operation: 1.45 to 3.1 kHz lower sideband; Minimum CW LF transmit power: at least 1000 VA adjustable to lower levels into 40 +/- 20 ohm reactive load; LF receiver sensitivity -160dBV, (1 Hz bandwidth), LF transducer interface: Compatible with Navy Standard TR-232 transducer; Voice mode operation; effectively communicate with existing AN/WQC-2A Sonar Communication Sets on existing platforms; Continuous Wave operation; 750 Hz in audio band. Auxiliary Mode 1 operation: This mode provides the low level (input to the power output stage) modulated signal on an output connector for use by external amplifiers;.. Auxiliary Mode 2 operation: this mode allows a signal to be inserted right before the driver amplifier utilizing the Sonar Communication Set's driver amplifier and final amplifier. This Mode is critical. External Monitor Outputs; Monitors receiver preamplifier outputs. External tape recording equipment output used to record demodulated received signals with any standard recorder. Directional Sonar Receive Inputs: Interfaces with Main Bow Sonar receiving modulated analog data from external sources. External Muting: provides the ability for external muting of receive signals via logic level inputs from other active sonars; External Muting Output Signal provides an output that could be used to mute another system as logic level or relay closure during active transmissions. Remote control capability by up to three control stations. Utilize ship's power (Type 1) (115V, 60Hz, AC, Single Phase.) Desirable Characteristics are non-intrusive self test capabilities and built in transducer testing capabilities. Submit any manuals (technical, operational, maintenance, etc. ), maintenance schedules, preventative maintenance documentation, and any other technical information that would be helpful in evaluating your system. The following logistic elements are of interest to us: availability of technical support; warranty information; supply support for parts and recommended spare parts necessary; support equipment required for operation, maintenance, testing, and calibration; training requirements and training support requirements; manpower and personnel requirements for operation and maintenance; any computer resources support requirements; reliability and maintainability (R&M) guarantees including environmental stress screening system; safety information; any other logistic information. Include anticipated delivery time. NAICS Code 334511. This notice is for information gathering purposes only. Applicable literature of your commercial or modified commercial item may be sent to Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Code 2122, 1176 Howell Street, Newport RI. 02841 Attn: J.
