- Description
- The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) is continuing its efforts in the elimination of Heavy Bombers and Air-Launched Cruise Missiles (ALCMs) in Ukraine. This requirement will decommission and eliminate 45 bombers (27 Tu-95 Bear, 11 Tu-160 Blackjack and 7 Tu-22M Backfire), 2 Tu-134 bomber trainers and 487 Kh-55 ALCMs located at Uzin, Belaya Tserkov and Priluki, Ukraine. In addition, 123 Kh-22 Air-To-Surface Missiles (ASMs) shall be transported from Poltava and priluki to Ozernoye. This requirement shall include but not be limited to defueling and neutralization of heavy bombers and ALCMs including pylons and rotary launchers; fuel and waste disposition including elimination of approximately 1000 tons of ALCM fuel in bulk storage; removal and storage of sensitive equipment, salvage and scrap; transport of ALCMs located at Priluki Airbase to Uzin Airbase; elimination bomber and bomer trainer aircraft engines; transportation of Kh-22 ASMs to Ozernoye; elimination of bomber pylons and rotary launchers; decommissioning, elimination, scrap and salvage operations. Note that this is a sole source effort under SIC Code 1795 for award to the Raytheon Technical Services Company (RTSC) as additional work to the existing contract for approximately 9 months. RTSC has already completed the elimination of 1 Tu-22M Backfire at Priluki and they are already on location at the work sites. In addition, RTSC has completed, approved and certified Ukrainian project plans for these sites that have included extensive environmental sampling and continuous environmental monitoring.
