Description
"TechTrends 2001", to be held in Atlantic City, N.J. by NDIA on April 17-18, will be a forum for an in-depth look at trends and developments in a diverse array of government-sponsored high-tech research. From electronics to medical and pharmaceutical research, to aeronautics, space, national defense, security, energy and environmental technologies, "TechTrends 2001" will provide an opportunity for researchers and executives to engage in dialogue with representatives of government research and development agencies and with major private corporations. Despite recent fiscal constraints, the need for continued federal support for research and development remains unchanged if the United States is to maintain its technological edge in the 21st Century. Sponsored by the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware congressional delegations, "TechTrends 2001" will feature the participation of NASA's Administrator, Daniel Goldin, and Christine Todd Whitman, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. Key representatives of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) will also participate. The keynote address will be given by General James L. Jones, Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps. "TechTrends 2001" is presented by the National Defense Industrial Association, (NDIA), an Arlington, Virginia-based organization which is dedicated to bringing industry and government together to strengthen the U.S. defense industry. Among the wide range of topics to be examined at "TechTrends" are such issues as the legal consequences of technology transfer; "green" manufacturing; biomaterials; state of the art materials; alternate energy; and coordination of state and federal defense research and development. Numerous and diverse technology firms will exhibit at "TechTrends", which will be held at the Atlantic City Convention Center.
